If you don't know how to spell twelve, how are you likely to spell it?
There, fixed the title of the thread. Frankly, I'm having trouble understanding why this would be the leading NJ spelling question.

@jasmo, I'm serious. How is a New Jerseyan likely to misspell the word? Chwelve?
I'm wondering if some of these higher frequency lookups occur based on homework assignments?
If I want to lookup a word spelling I can type it in directly (or go to Dictionary.com). Typing in “how to spell ______” is not necessary, and seems like something those less experienced with google or computers might do.

In New Jersey it's spelled "Bon Jovi"
How about COLLEGE (the school)...many people going to college saying they are going to collage.
And PAYED. People keep insisting they PAYED a bill.
a lot of misspelling in searches are just fast typing/typos. I do that frequently, knowing it will still search what I need so I don't bother to change it. I might type wtelve accidentally.

Twelve is definately not the word I see misspelled most frequently.
Tha'ts my horrid , scary word. Even spelling it incorrectly doesn't help cause spell check still can't figure out what i mean. But each time I do spell it "The president and a small group of people know exactly what I meant."

Thank you for the chuckle.

These are the top 4 options I got when typing this out. pneumonia sounds like one that would be high up on this list - in general.

These are my top three results--not sure why it only gave me three. But "leprechaun"? Why did that come up?
Eta: I hit space and it came up with a fourth: "hallelujah."
From here in Wisconsin, I got...
cancelled
library
desert
90
Leprechaun was also down there a ways. On the original list, maybe "Wisconsin" was a typo??? Anyhow, fun.

(The Mercury News 5/31). In honor of the National Spelling Bee, which starts Wednesday, Google decided to see what words people in each of the 50 states struggle to spell. To do this, it looked at Google searches of “how to spell ______” in each of the states from Jan. 1 to April 30, 2017. Whatever word filled that blank most often in each state became denoted as that state’s “most misspelled word.”
