Miss my Dad too. We had spirited political discussions and we spoke everyday. There isn't a breaking news moment when I don't want to pick up the phone.
I love my dad, but he often drives me bananas.
We see him fairly regularly, so today he and my mom spent the day with my cousin who recently had a baby -- and whose father (my dad's 1st cousin) died tragically just a few years ago.
Between these posts, and my cousin's loss of his father, it's hitting me how much I take my dad's existence in my life for granted. I mean, won't he always just be there?
I've been very fortunate to have this father, and to have him this long. I should call him and let him know.

It's been a couple of years since my Dad passed away, but even so I get these fleeting thoughts about what I'll say to him (or, for today, about getting a card) before I remember.
