Golden Globes

I can’t remember a more boring one. Samberg and Oh are awful.

Carol Burnett (and Steve Carrell’s introduction of her) a highlight so far.

Pretty bad.  Agree about Samberg and Oh.  Cringeworthy.

Well, count on Christian Bale to liven it up. He’d like to thank Satan for giving him the inspiration to play Cheney. Lol

Give me some of whatever Jeff Bridges is smoking.

wow. Some real surprises in these major categories. I so do not agree with a lot of these. Bohemian Rhapsody as Best Picture?!?! I enjoyed it and I’m a huge Freddie fan but it was certainly no Best Picture.

I haven't seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet, but given the competition - yeah, a huge surprise.

A weird choice, actually. Bio-pics pretty much never win best picture. (that I can think of anyway.)

A big bore and a waste of time

I liked Bohemian Rhapsody because I love Queen/Freddie but it wasn’t even close to a great movie. Literally every other movie nominated in either category was a better movie.

I liked seeing so many women of color and it felt like an important moment.  I wasn't looking for lots of laughs.

sure but would have been nice if the hosts weren’t awful.

Can someone explain how The Green Book ended up in the category of musicals and comedies?

Category was comedy OR Musical.   It was a comedy I guess.  Sometimes filmmakers put things in strange categories to get a better chance at winning.

and while explaining that, let’s discuss how both Star is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody were NOT musicals. Lol

In hindsight, Star is Born should have entered as a musical. Might have done better if BR entered as drama.

All in all, what a mess it was.

The Carol Burnett Award was the highlight for me, other then that - eh.

Vice was in comedy or musical as well, I haven't seen it, but I thought it was about Cheney.  Was it a spoof on his life?

I haven’t seen it yet either but from what I’ve heard, it’s more comedy than drama.

Christian Bale was very entertaining. He’s absolutely bonkers.

Just saw Vice this weekend. It's a dark comedy. A few laugh out loud moments, but I'd hardly call it a comedy. It was excellent, though. Highly recommend.

what’s up with the “ties” on the Critics Choice Awards? Shouldn’t this be built into the system so this doesn’t happen? I mean it’s nice to spread the wealth so I guess it doesn’t matter but it just seems odd.

and how can Christian Bale be nominated twice- Best Actor in a Comedy and also Best Actor for same role? Double weird.
