I love this passage:

McConnell's team was ready to push back against McGrath's launch, with a website and a video featuring quotes from McGrath during her run for Congress, including her calling herself "more progressive than anybody in the state of Kentucky" and criticizing Trump's proposed southern border wall as "stupid."

First of all the border wall is in fact stupid.  And second, a person calling him or herself more progressive than anyone in Kentucky is kind of like saying you're the tallest jockey in Kentucky.

It's the dream isn't it? Old Beelzebub unseated by a Progressive Marine Combat Veteran Mom?

I hope McGrath cuts his nuts off, politically speaking.

 Amen, Brother.

Go get him! Lots of donations coming from the blue states.

By the way we liberals seem to be having a love affair with the military these days. Amy, Tulsi, Pete, Mikie, did I forget anyone?

It doesn’t sound to me like McGrath is particularly progressive (other than by comparison). That said, this is a case of the right candidate for the district.

A real left Progressive wouldn't likely stand a chance. I tried going on her site but didn't see a platform.

My guess is she won't run on M4A but maybe in strengthening the ACA and funding it better. Women's Reproductive Rights. Environment. Living wage.

I don't know how strong she can come across for LGBTQ rights in Kentucky.

She can leverage her military career and compare it to Mitch's. (She volunteered to serve in a combat role. He enlisted in the Reserves and got help getting an honorable discharge after a couple months. If you're keeping score at home).

Maybe she talks about logical stronger border security without the inhumane crap going on now.

Just my thoughts.

Seats like this it just comes down to SCOTUS nominees and trials for the President (if the worst should come to pass).  The right candidate for the seat, that's what's important.  And I say that as a progressive.

 That's no accident.

Mark Kelly running in Arizona against Martha McNally. Both are veterans.

Of course, the right candidate for the seat also means that someone else should probably be representing California's 12th district.  But that's and argument for another thread.

“Go GIRL!” — how sexist is that! Have we learned nothing since MeTwo? question

That's a good one! oh oh  oh oh  oh oh

So a little research online shows that Less than half of registered voters came out for the Senate election in 2014.

https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_Senate_elections_in_Kentucky,_2014

According to recent records there are 3.4 million registered voters in Kentucky.  Almost half are registered Democrats. But Republicans are registering more new voters than Dems since the 2016 election.

https://www.wbko.com/content/news/Kentucky-has-more-than-34-million-registered-voters-497926501.html

It sounds like if McGrath can get enough voters out she stands a chance.  But I’m sure Kentucky Republicans will be a very motivated force in 2020.

Yeah, but he's an astronaut! How do you top that?
