General Store Cooperative

So there's a neat new store on Springfield Ave half a block from Prospect. It's called the General Store Cooperative. Right next to East Side Fitness.

https://generalstorecooperative.com/

It's a co-op of several local businesses. One is a bakery where I got some caramel popcorn and the best graham crackers I've ever eaten.

There's also the Good Bottle Refill shop where they have all kinds of soaps and cleaning products in bulk and you can either bring your own container to fill or you can buy a reusable container from them.

I bought a few presents from some of the other areas as well.  Fun place to visit and there are a couple of municipal lots within a block or two.

Nice - I noticed it the other day - looks great from the outside:

General Store Cooperative‘s flagship cafe and marketplace, think “mini-Chelsea Market,” hosts a variety of locally-owned businesses under its roof, including Good Bottle Refill Shop, Three Daughter’s Baking Co., Love Where You Live by Mrs. Meshugga, The Maplewood Wheelhouse, and an outpost for South Orange favorites Kitchen a la Mode and Sadie’s.

I noticed it last week, it was fairly crowded. Looks fantastic. Wish them well, it's a great addition to the avenue.

There's a communal table in the back, and you can get coffee and a pastry. They will also be rotating local artwork through the place.

Looks like it's worth a visit.

It's been open for a while now.  I think it's history goes back to 2017 as a pop-up store and the main store opened last fall (I think).

They did a soft opening in the fall. The bakery/cafe is now complete and they're officially open.

It started off online, then they did the pop-ups.

Good pictures!!!

Enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a general look-see with JerseyJack earlier...

Shall return for sure!

Great place! Bottle shop is the most useful to me, but I like all the vendors. Interesting merchandise, attractive place, nice vibe.

I've met the lady that's pictured by the coffee machine.  Super friendly and nice.

I tried removing that one and I can't.

I removed it for you.  Unfortunately - I think i x'd out another one by accident.

When you edit a comment - a red x will appear above the photo's thumbnail - clicking on that should remove the image.  Please let me know if you tried this and it didn't work.

I'd like to try the bottle shop. I'm picky about my soaps/detergents and scents though. Anything you recommend?

Highly recommend the mint grapefruit shampoo, if that's a scent that appeals to you.

Red X did not appear. An X did appear but it would not accept a "click."

I got powdered laundry detergent I very much like. Very concentrated, so only needs 1 tablespoon per load. I brought an old container and now I don't have to go through single-use plastic jugs for ever. They also have bulk food, haven't tried that yet!

I like the grapefruit shampoo too! But tried the sage-rosemary (or some other similar herbal blend) last time, and liked it too!

Anyone notice if the refill shop has unscented undyed stuff? I'm kind of a dainty buttercup about these things.
