Having watched it as a child, and having thought it was so funny, I have been amazed to see it as an adult and realize how serious it actually was, and how incredibly serious so many of the topics it addressed was. Those writers were brilliant, as was the cast.
One of the best shows ever. I watch the reruns when I need a break from the news. Strange that watching a comedy about the Korean War is actually a relief from the everyday aggravation that is this administration.
Is Hawkeye everyone's favorite character?

Great. Now I have to re-watch 256 episodes!
Easier than keeping up with 470 Law & Order SVU episodes, always searching for episodes that I may have missed.
I never knew that the reason McLean Stevenson left the show was because he was being courted to replace Johnny Carson.
Who knew?!

It worked out for the best. I think all of the major cast changes were for the better, though I was sad to see Radar go, even if Farr stepped in superbly.

No, mine is Colonel Potter, with Father Mulcahy a close second.
Way back when, I used to run home from Fielding School as fast as I could go, to watch M*A*S*H at 3:30.
That article brought back great memories. I watched that show every week. I didn't have a favorite character but I always rooted for them all to do something subversive. Much of the political satire may have been lost on me but I was fully aware that it had an anti-war perspective. I was very aware of the Viet Nam war and the controversy raging at the time as the war wound down and this show seemed to speak to me.
When my mom was in the hospital, I came to visit dressed in camouflage with an IV bag labeled Vodka. We were both MASH fans.
