fish oil pills

i am looking to start taking fish oil pills. i know eating fish is the best option, but i definitely don't (my family doesn't enjoy it and i don't buy it much bc of that). i've been reading up on different brands and would like advice on what brand you buy. thank you!

When I was pregnant I used the ones from Trader Joe's. I don't remember the name, but I chose those because they were processed to remove mercury which is present in many fish.

I take this http://www.gnc.com/GNC-Triple-...

It's Krill Oil, which is supposedly more easily absorbed by the body than fish oil (but I honestly don't know if that's marketing or science)

I recommend taking them at night. Less burpiness or something.

I can't take fish oil as it gives me such bad burps that I end up with hiccups. Instead I take vegetarian Omega-3 gummies. (Fish intake: I'm not a fish fan, but I do get lox on my bagels).

Taking frozen fish oil capsules reduces/eliminates reactions

Why trick your body into ingesting things that bother it when you can get the omega's from veggie sources (which, for me, have zero negative side effects)?

It's only one opinion, but I asked my cardiologist about this and his response was, "Don't bother." I'd discuss with your physician what benefits you hope to achieve. Some of the same fatty acids are also found in canola oil, flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and elsewhere.

This might be a good option, Omega 3 6 9 (non-fish source). I personally take these with no bad effects.

We cook with olive oil exclusively. Our diets are already fairly low in fat, so we use it generously. We sometimes add flax seed oil to our food, but it tastes fishy to some people. We also eat a LOT of nuts. My wife was an almond lover for years and has recently switched to walnuts. I eat about a pound of cashews every week. I roast them myself in a skillet. They taste great when freshly roasted. I add spices to them, too.

I've been using the Mega Red 4 in 1 krill oil capsules. One little one each night before bedtime. No burping, no fishy taste. I've noticed a lot less difficulty with my joints too.

my doctor said exactly the same thing "why are you taking them? Don't waste your time or $"

My doctor put me on prescription-strength fish oil gelcaps to address my cholesterol, and told me the same thing about the over-the-counter stuff. I don't know what the difference is, but I my doctor has never struck me as a bull****ter. (And my cholesterol did improve.)

my fathers doctor also recommends he takes 3-4 a day (and his cholesterol hasn't budged a bit). But That's why I started taking them (because his doctor recommended) but mine basically said don't bother.

That's A LOT of nuts Tom! The recommendation is 5 oz. per week!

Yup, it's a lot. It replaces some of my lunches, since they have so many calories. It works for me. I've lost a lot of weight over the last couple of years by eating high calorie foods.
