Silverstrom group in Livingston is really good. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
I see Dr Neepa Shaw at Advanced Dental in South Orange. Nothing but good things to say about her.
Muench Family Dentist in Maplewood is fabulous but it does not take insurance. It will give you the completed treatment form to apply for reimbursement from your insurance. Just make sure before hand that your insurance carrier will reimburse you.
Dr. John Hamberger in Livingston.
Gone there for 30 years. His son has joined the practice and is equally good.
My family has been going to Dr. Fried at Maplewood Family Dental for years. He's great. Busy these days, and has a new dentist on staff, but highly recommended.

Amazing front office staff. Office runs on time. All of the dental hygienists are pros.

PMed you.
Dr. Fried is good, but wait times to get an appointment can be long. We had a time sensitive need for one of my children to be seen but were given an appointment two months out. Then our orthodontist's office called on our behalf since it was an issue that should not be put off. We were told that the best they could do was to put us on standby in case someone else cancelled, but other than that the appointment was still two months out.
Luckily for us my older child sees a pediatric dentist, so we called them and they were able to fit us in the very next day even though the child in question was not a patient of theirs. I now take all three kids to the pediatric dentist.
I understand that you are an adult and not a pediatric patient, but I've heard similar issues from adult patients. If you're blessed with healthy teeth and are only looking for 2x a year cleanings and check ups Dr Fried is great. But if you have the occasional need to be seen in between regular visits getting an appointment quickly can be an issue.
We like Hal Solomon in Millburn. Very friendly office staff, he's great and explains everything to us, and they've always gotten us in same day for emergencies.

Funny you should mention. I found silverstrom because I cracked a tooth that had a filling. My dentist wouldn't see me for some time. Silverstrom came in on a Sunday and I wasn't even his patient. I've been going there ever since.

LOVE Dr Soloman and entire staff!!!
Dr Fried impresses me as a very good man but wait times for appointments, even in the case of emergencies, were so long that we had to find another dentist. I have always thought that he really needs to hire a couple of dentists to work with him.

David Silverstrom is like that. His son Gary is in the practice too, but I've never had personal experience with him. Hopefully he is as dedicated as his father.
David takes such personal pride in his work that he sometimes makes me laugh. He was once so admiring of a challenging crown he had put in that I asked him if he'd like to add his initials to it. He laughed, because aside from everything else, he has a very good sense of humor. As another poster commented, his practice isn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.
Dr. Fried has hired another dentist. And yes, he's very busy.
We started years ago when he was building his practice; he has been wildly
successful at that and it has affected appointment availability on short notice.
I've never had bad wait times, and he has worked my partner in several times for
emergencies.
Still highly recommend him--but as others have noted, there are other great options as well.

My dentist of many years retired and I have yet to find one to take his place. Maybe I’m too fussy. I’ve tried a few but I just don’t want to go back to the new guy my dentist suggested. I don’t think his work is up to par and his office needs some tidying among other things. Any suggestions?
