Favorite Christmas Tune

You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch (original)

https://youtu.be/YvI_FNrczzQ

Fire place roaring with the lights down low on Christmas Eve, in front of the tree with the lights slowly fading in and out, sipping quietly on a Macallan 12 yr old single malt. It’s truly the Most Wonderful Time Of The Year! Happy Holidays Allcheese

do we really need to ask?

The best song from the best Christmas album

It’s a contest for second place, behind Darlene Love.

This is apparently James Corden’s favorite, which I heard for the first time on his show the other night (unless it was posted on one of these threads in a previous year, in which case I apologize to the poster for forgetting, because it really is quite marvelous, and it should have stuck with me). Anyway ...

Gotta be Christmas Rapping by The Waitresses. Clever lyrics. Catchy tune!

Silent Night, with just the neighbors...

Back to Mary Did You Know?  I saw these alternative lyrics on Twitter, and I love them: (credit: https://twitter.com/mwestramke/status/935255483161694208 )

Mary freaking knew, that her baby boy would one day rule the nations

Mary freaking knew, that her baby boy was Lord of all creation.

Yes she knew! Read Luke 1, you fool, she sang about it then
It helps, if when you're reading,

you listen to the WOMENNNNNNNN!

Another personal favorite that doesn’t make many lists:

One of my favorites is We Need a Little Christmas. Angela Lansbury sang it in Jerry Herman's Mame. It's a happy, catchy tune.

drummer, Hell yes.  What's your fav version.

Morman Tab Choir:  Hallelujah

Thank you,DaveSchmidt. That's the one.

I'm really loving Leslie Odom, Jr.'s holiday album this year. This song is surprising; did you ever think of this as a holiday song?  And he certainly transforms it!  (Loads of excellent material on this CD -- really well sung, with classy arrangements that make the chestnuts sound new again.)

When I hear this version of "Sleigh Ride":  the horse clopping, sleigh bells, the horse whinnying, and the crack of the whip, I am thrown into Christmas.

C'mon, Fairytale of New York.

Also, 25th December, by Everything But The Girl.

I've played this a few times in my alternate life as a trumpet player. It's such a fun and happy tune.

I posted my favorite version early on the thread. By Harry Simeone. It's one of the earliest pieces of music in my memory, and I still remember walking around the house with a cardboard box strapped around my neck drumming along to it. Must have been 5 years old.

But there's always this great clip:
