Faded and/or missing parking lot numbers

These painted numbers are a disaster. In rough weather they fade, making them barely legible. During the snow, I pulled into a spot near Ricalton's and for the life of me, couldn't read my spot number or those next to me. Why can't we have spot numbers on short poles in front of all spaces like other towns? It really makes more sense.

It's just more money. Everything can be improved, but it all costs money. Go look at the thread about the reassessment and see how people feel about taxes.

It might be due to fading in that area but it's on purpose in Millburn. They now use a pay-by-plate model. No parking spot numbers.

The expense of maintaining parking space numbers should not be something paid out of taxes in South Orange. Don't forget that South Orange has a Parking Authority that never seems to have very much money to turn over to the Village because of claimed costs.

Right, so now there would be even less.

We should investigate whether now is the time to terminate the Authority.

By the way, are you expecting an appointment to the Authority?

Not averse to this idea either. What we have simply isn't working. Fresh paint each season? It's an antiquated and inefficient practice that really needs to stop.

Funny. I'm just making what seem to be obvious points. Whether we should have a parking authority or not seems to be unrelated to the question of should we have a numbered sign in front of every parking spot.
