ELECTION DAY?????

It's Election day and on a Discussion Board dedicated to Politics there is no discussion of the Election.  Instead we re-litigate last year's election.

Does anyone other than me see that as a problem? Perhaps that is THE problem.

I voted at around 8:30 today. Polling place was pretty busy.

I think that part of NJ's problem is that this election was de facto wrapped up in August/September 2016, while people were fixated on the presidential race.  At the point Murphy got all of the county endorsements and public worker union endorsements Jim Johnson hadn't even declared and Wisniewski was barely campaigning.

Had our gubernatorial election developed after the presidential election had concluded, I think there would have been more exposure of the candidates' backgrounds and positions on the Democratic side.

It's Election Day all over the Country, not just New Jersey. There is a crucial race for Governor of Virginia but people supposedly interested in Politics and the direction of the Country are busy re-litigating the 2016 Democratic Party Presidential nominating process.

Election Day is the eye of the storm. A period of a few hours of quiet makes sense to me.

Murphy bought all of the county endorsements by donating big $$$$ to the Democratic party in every single county. This gave him the top spot on every ballot in the primary. He also made backroom deals resulting in most of his competition dropping out of the race.

I voted.  There's been discussion of the local Township Committee and BOE elections.  There didn't seem much point to discuss the gubernatorial election at this point.

the nj question on epa fund settlements is important-otherwise I might stay home!

As much as I dislike Murphy, staying home is impossible.  Trump needs to get the message.  This election can't be close.  Pile on the votes.  This is the first chance nationwide to send a message.

The Democratic Candidate has been elected Governor of Virginia. The "pundits" say that the Anti-Trump vote came out strong in Northern Virginia.

An anti-Gay incumbent Republican incumbent Legislator has been defeated by a transgender Democrat in Virginia. It is projected that two women will be the first Latina members of the Virginia House of Delegates.

Of course Phil Murphy is projected as the winner.

In Virginia the Dem candidate is running stronger than Hillary Clinton ran last year. There is a slight possibility od the Dems flipping the House of Delegates which is now 66-34 Republican

Bone Spur Donnie just tweeted it was not his fault, not anti-Trump. It was because the VA Republican gubernatorial candidate did not embrace him. Never his fault, never.

Trump the anti-Truman. The Pass The Buck President.

Now that there is a Democratic governor and the Democrats have expanded their control of the Legislature, let's see if they can solve some of the major problems that NJ is faced with - underfunding of school districts, underfunding of pensions, a troubled transportation system, property taxes - all without having to increase the state income tax (excluding a "millionaire's tax.")

eta - One of the first things that Murphy has to do is support the extension of the 2% cap on police and firefighters.
