Due to a variety of issues, I need to open a "alternative" FB account

Due to working with young people during the summer, I need an account to friend them in that will not carry as much of my political content as my normal group of friends enjoys and shares.

Tips?  I'm pretty sure if anyone of them is really interested, that they will find "me" but all the same.

Thoughts?

Best Regards,

Ron Carter

I know this is not what you asked, but you can hide any of those posts from them.

One question - do you want to read their pages, or do you want them to read posts from you?

If it is the latter, you could set up a group for them to join.  You would administer, they could read and share on topics relevant to your group.

South_Mountaineer,

Don't you have to friend them to join with them in a group?

No, you do not. You can make a group and add them as members without friending them. And you can also make posts on your page more private.

Setting up a group will accomplish your stated goal and it doesn't seem that difficult to manage.

Thank you as I really don't want to give up my rant:  R.I.P.E.!

I opened an alternate account....with a brand new email...and it was still suggesting people related to my original FB.  I know it is against the rules, but I want to really be private on facebook..I don't want people being able to find me-so I created a fake name.

jmitw, don't want to go that far!

Yes, the group idea is better and easier to manage.

So, if I join with a group all in a FB Group, they won't have access to my history of posts????

-Ron

All depends upon your privacy settings.

They may have access to your posts now if you don't have your privacy settings set tightly. They don't have to be your FB friends to see your posts if your privacy is set to "everyone" or even "friends of friends" if that applies to some of the people.

But, no, members of a group whom you are not friends with cannot see your posts if you are set to "friends only."

I'm a member of a few facebook groups. Sometimes people post things about what life is like "around here" but I don't know where they mean. I wish they would put their locations in the public parts of their profiles. So adjust yours accordingly. You want some things to show, and you want some things hidden.

Would you consider what you do a "business" sort of thing?  You can create a separate business Facebook account for free.  You would post and can allow others to post/comment or just LIKE.

If you need help making up a name, let me know. I have a surplus of made-up names ready to be used.

Yours,

Jorge Hankersnibble (aka Alabaster J. Pingpong, Esq.)
