What do I think? Damned if you do; damned if you don't.
I can't understand why anyone would want to be in politics.
Soak this in: It's now possible that Trump's biggest legislative wins this year will be more spending and raising the debt cap — the exact opposite of what Tea Party Republicans came to D.C. to do.

Trump needs the Democrats in order to amend Obamacare. This is his way of getting them.
This MUST have some kind of personal benefit to him. He does NOTHING without a personal benefit. Maybe something to do with government funds to rebuild Mar-a-Lago after the storm?
I think he was desperate to accomplish something. I can't give him credit though for thinking through several layers of strategy, I don't think he's capable of that. He just wanted to get something done and perhaps stick it to Ryan and McConnell.
My personal favorite: Schumer and Pelosi caught colluding with Russian agent
But the Democrats have no actual power. Will Republicans pass this?
couldn't be enjoying the McConnell/Ryan reactions more. They thought they could control this maniac b/c he knew nothing about how stuff works. Little did they know DJT doesn't have an ounce of integrity or concern about their little party.

McConnell said that he supports the deal. The largest Republican group in the House, the Republican Study Committee, which has 155 members, opposes the deal, but doesn't vote as a bloc. The other Republicans with the Democrats have enough votes to pass the deal.
If this initial deal is just a prelude to getting rid of the idiotic debt ceiling as is being indicated today and if Schumer and Pelosi can find a parliamentary way to get it done and Trump signs then regardless of anything else that will be great thing.
He does whatever gets him attention. Would this be getting as much attention, shock, and awe if he had sided with the GOP?

Zackly! These folks are still looking for other rationales for DJT's actions when they're random and irrational, except for the the theme of self- aggrandizement.

Yes. Yes it will. I could care less if there's some other undercurrent running behind it, or not. I'll take it, gladly.

Or lining his own pockets!
Love his mantra regarding GOP leadership - "You had 7 years to figure out ACA!"

I really need to temper my feelings of hope. In my fantasies, Trump is learning how making a deal that is truly good for the nation is good for his ego, and this will be the way of things to come. But there is so much contraindication, that it probably will not prove to be true.
