Does Maplewood still have an animal control officer ?

Got a nice family of raccoons moved into one of the basement window wells.

This is not the first time.  The window can be opened from the inside but it's hard to get to the well from the outside.  I had to pay a large sum to get them removed last time around.

I recall Maplewood got rid of the animal control officer position some years ago.  Is this still true ?  I think South Orange and Millburn both have animal control officers.

I think we use South Orange's service.  Maplewood does not have anyone.

Maplewood has used St. Hubert's for a couple of years and now South Orange is using St. Hubert's. They are operating as our ACO and our sheltering facility. For any feral colonies, we both use People for Animals to help with trapping and they offer us their clinic rates for spay and neuter. I'm not sure what your contract reads for wild animals. Only an ACO with a wildlife license is supposed to handle them. Your former ACO Debbie Hadu did have one and also has a raccoon rescue and rehab called Midnight Bandits.

St. Hubert's offers "healthy wildlife consultation," in addition to services related to injured and/or orphaned wildlife.  https://www.twp.maplewood.nj.us/sites/maplewoodnj/files/uploads/doc122.pdf

Here's the raccoon fact sheet that St. Hubert's provides on their website:

They'll leave on their own when the little ones are a little larger.

like Steve said, they will prob move on. You can make it more uncortable for them by putting down mothballs.. I also have used motion sensor lighting where they nested in my garage, and they left quickly after I put that and mothballs

Thank you for all the replies, I called St. Hubert's, they were very responsive but mentioned that they won't move the wildlife after rescue, and suggested that I waited them out.

The raccoons must have heard my call, they moved out the next day  grin
 !

I will try to put up some barrier to the window well, like some chicken wire fence type of screen and maybe a small motion light as well.
