Do printers retain information?

We are getting rid of two printers that don't work. Should we smash them first? Do they retain information on a hard drive?

No, normal printers don't have real storage. Big office machines may be different.

Thank you. These are old, mid-range home printers that we got at Staples.

They should be recycled though.

Yeah, will do. Thanks everyone.

Someone might be able to figure out your network name and password from the printer, but that seems unlikely. First, it would take some trouble, and second, they'd have to have a good guess as to where to stand to get on your network.

Interesting. We're bringing it to the dump, so they won't know where it came from.

well, only if they're wireless. These sound like they might not be.
