Did you get your mail-in ballot?

I live in Maplewood and got mine yesterday through the mail.

But it didn't show up... :-(

The Informed Directory email states that the following mail is coming to you soon.  It does not promise that the items listed in the email will arrive that day. My mail for today just arrived.  The other pieces listed in the Informed Delivery email were present.  The mail in ballot was not.  I reported it as not received.

But in this case, it said specifically, "Your ballot is arriving today!" It did come today (and informed delivery listed it again as being delivered "today"), just not the right today.

I haven't gotten my mail for today yet.  I seldom get mail on Saturday.  Still, the Informed Delivery promises my ballot today (for the second time) plus several other pieces of mail.  With no mail delivery/pick-up on Sundays and the holiday starting tomorrow evening, it may be Tuesday at the earliest before I can vote and return my ballot.

Got mine in West Orange yesterday.

A friend got hers today. I still haven't gotten any mail today.  It often comes after dark.

It came after dark last night.  Now to research the three ballot questions.  Understanding the ramifications of a yes or no on question number three is the one that is giving me the most trouble.  Thoughts?

Have you seen this explanation for Q3?

Voting yes seems to make sense, given the fact that Trump is mucking around with the census. If census results come in on time, nothing changes. If not, redistricting has to wait - if you don't have the numbers, you can't redistrict - and then I think we'd be stuck with the old districts for the whole decade.

That's my understanding anyway.

Ours came yesterday.

The New Jersey League of Women Voters disagrees with you.  They are urging voters to vote NO on the question because they view redistricting as advantaging the politicians rather than the voters.  Translation:  If you like your current district, vote NO.  You will have a better chance of keeping it.  If you think your vested interest group is underrepresented by the current structure, vote YES.

Mine hasn’t come yet, JerseyJack’s has... question

Where’s the resident mail man who used to post on here? I don’t think he’s retired as yet. But he definitely has retired from MOL.

I, too, received the Informed Delivery email that my ballot was being delivered last week, but it did not arrive the day of the email. I asked our carrier (who is wonderful and gives me reason to still believe in the PO) and he said the ballots had been received in the Union PO that day, but hadn't been distributed yet to all the carriers. He said he had only gotten a few to be delivered that day, and, yes, everyone with Informed Delivery was asking him about it. He said it might take a day or two to get the ballots to the carriers, even though they were at the PO. My ballot was delivered the following day.

I really liked when our mail was received and processed locally rather than having the additional delays of it going through the Union site all the time. That might not have helped with things as they are now, but at least we had a fighting chance of getting and retrieving our mail.

I've seen Letters on Facebook.  I don't think he posts here any more.

I keep telling him that Facebook has far more drama than MOL these days.

I turned mine in today.  In addition to drop boxes or mail in, Hunterdon County also has the option of dropping them off in person at the Clerk’s Office Board of Elections.  I know my signature changes by the hour (seriously, even on the house closing paperwork my signature changed from one page to the next  oh oh )so I figured dropping it off where they check ID and have you sign the book was probably the best bet.  There were seven people in line in front of me, took all of 8 minutes, and the woman in front of me who arrived at the same time I did was complaining about the horrible line.

Has anyone else had one member of your household receive their ballot, but not another? My son's arrived on Saturday, but no sign of mine yet, as of today's mail.

I received my ballot today and voted today.

 Did your son register online?

This happened to friends of mine who live in the same household.  One received their ballot.  The other did not.  Both are in their 70s and have voted in Essex County for decades.

No. He registered a while back through a voter registration drive and has voted in a general and a primary since. We both received our primary ballots at the same time. Hopefully, mine will arrive today.

It seems like the same system they used when mailing out the stimulus money in the spring. I guess we just have to wait. It has to be a lot of mail to get out.

I caution folks not to be in such a rush to vote that they don't research the school board candidates in MAPSO.  It is important to know how 58% of our property taxes are spent.  I have tried to read up on two candidates and I've found nothing but empty platitudes.  No one is against the things they are for, and they print no possible solutions to our problems.  My ballot will go in a drop box.  Its okay if it goes in in late October.

There are three school board candidate debates scheduled in October.  The earliest is on October 8, 2020.  Registration is required for that program and link is available.
