Delaware Vaca

Planning a family vaca in late August to Delaware. Wondering if anyone has any lodging recos for a family of four (two kids, 10 and 12). Looking to have a pool on-site and be within walking distance to the beach. House, condo, inn, etc...interested in Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island or Rehoboth Beach.

Thanks in advance!!

I thought this was going to be a thread about cows.

for many years we took a summer vacation in Bethany Beach.  We used Coldwell Banker to find rental properties:

We have stayed at One Virginia Avenue condominium for years and years. It's on a quiet end of the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, has a pool, and has a variety of apartment sizes from studios to 3br, so we "moved up" as our family grew.  They only rent by the week.

We (2 adults + 2 children) did the same as ml1 and rented homes in Bethany Beach proper on the beach side.  Private access to beach with a 2 minute walk.  If you want a pool in Bethany Beach, you will likely need to rent on the bay side, which I wouldn't say is a short walk to the beach, or you'll need to rent a mansion with a pool.

We loved our summers in Bethany Beach, but stopped going as our kids got older.  Not much for teens to do.  Good luck.

Pools suck. Get yer kids in the ocean. Rent a beachfront house like this in South Bethany, and they'll never want a pool again...

Thanks for the recos, all. Looking further into it based on some of your links!

Hijacking. Tell me about Bethany vs. Rehoboth. What's best for a two-adult/two-teen family?

Rehoboth: For the family that thinks of the beach as only part of a beach vacation. (Other parts: a bigger, more commercial boardwalk; better restaurants; shopping; a motel pool.)

Bethany: For the family that thinks of the beach as the reason for a beach vacation, and doesn’t mind an extra half-hour to drive there.

i would agree with Dave.  I've only rented homes in Bethany on the beach side with private access to beach.  Kids were little enough that all we did was hang out on the beach and drive to the boardwalk at night.  Not much else to do, because you're not really walking distance from anything.  Rehoboth seems a lot busier.
