Deafening silence on "Deafening silence on deafening silence" Thread

grin  (Emoticons will be back)

it's like the sound of one hand clapping.

Jamie, can we get an emoticon of that?

That will come with the audio files!

probably not a good idea.  it will look like the poster is trying to slap you

if the forum added an "I slap your face" emoticon and charged $1 per use, MOL would have a revenue problem.  Like "what do we do with all this revenue? "

that's all we need.  "I slap your face."  Followed by pistols at dawn.

Oh, I can just see me buying those in $10 bundles after happy hour at Coda and dancing across MOL slapping people.

Getting slapped 20 times in 24 hours earning a one week ban.

Speaking of banning, are we going to eventually have the ability to click on an offensive poster's name to see if they have been banned?

can we get a like button?  I would like that.

The term "deafening silence" as used on MOL amounts to "I am annoyed that I am starting this thread. Someone else should have started it."

with an undercurrent of "Am I the only one here who understands what an important issue this is?"

Exactly, or "Am I the only one who wants to.discuss this?"

75% of deafening silence threads are started after a discussion of the topic has begun in another current thread.

I think people just don't want THEIR name/avatar on a potentially controversial thread so they hold off waiting for someone else to start it.  That's fine, but just because you decide to give in doesn't give you the right to be rude about it (which is how I take the "deafening silence" phrase ... along the lines of what ml1 said.)
