Congestion downtown SO-- 3rd St closed & Ridgewood closed (north of SO Ave)

Took me a while to get through downtown SO this morning around 8:15. There is roadwork closing Ridgewood Ave (in front of SO Middle School) plus 3rd St/Sloan construction closing that route, so traffic is quite congested in town.

ETA: Looks like that section of Ridgewood will be closed tomorrow (Weds) too.

More ETA: Or maybe not tomorrow, but Thursday. (Two sources are in disagreement about the second day).

Mead Street also was closed between Ridgewood and Meadowbrook Lane when I drove by at about 7:45 this morning.

This looks like a day of "can't get there from here" for the whole town. LOL

Thanks for the heads up.

Repaving of ridgewood rd- I understand if they need to do this work but the timing could not be more of a headache for the staff of the adult school camp- the Baird camp and for pool goers. Logistically having to change how hundreds of kids get to and from camp safely is tough. supposedly the adult school pleaded with the town to hold off two weeks and were told no. despite the crazy traffic - I was impressed with how the camp is handling it.

Could we please get this stuff posted prominently on the Village web site? I know there is a notice under the Police Department section about the Ridgewood closing, but again nothing about 3rd St. If it's going to be the PD posting these notices in their section of the web site, for reasons that Ace has explained in the past, maybe it should say "Street Closings Tuesday July 14" as the title, rather than "Traffic Notice/Parking Restrictions". When 3rd St is closed in the morning it is a major headache for commuters who park in Waterlands, who get to 3rd St only to discover it is closed then they have to go all the way around to Church St. This adds several minutes and has made me miss a train in the past.

We just got back from there and the village should be ashamed of how they have handled this. There is no police presence on south orange ave and only teenagers who work for the adult school directing the traffic. While they are doing a great job- one of them was just hit by a car! She is very upset but not injured I don't think. What a chaotic mess.

Portions of both North Ridgewood Road and Vose Avenue are being milled and paved this week. Crews arrive at 7 a.m. and begin work shortly thereafter.

Schedule is as follows:
Monday – Vose Ave
Tuesday – No Ridgewood Rd
Wednesday – Vose Ave
Thursday – No Ridgewood Rd

UPCOMING SOUTH ORANGE AVENUE CLOSURES
South Orange Avenue between Cherry Lane/Brookside Drive and WyomingAvenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from Tuesday, July 21st to Thursday, July 23rd and Tuesday, July 28th to Thursday, July 30th. The closures are necessary so a new arch bridge can be installed over the roadway. Detours will be established directing traffic to Northfield Avenue.

And it looks like North Wyoming Avenue is also bein preped to be remilled and paved. Signs are up from So Orange Ave to Luddington...

The 3rd Street construction is infuriating already. For a week and a half, it's been unusable during morning drive-time. Why is it closed at that hour? Why can't they start after 9am?

I sound like a broken record, but that whole development is a monstrosity in every way. And now they want another one on 4th Street?
