Comey confirms NO evidence of Obama wiretapping

FBI Director Comey testified today that there is no FBI/NSA evidence that Obama administration conducted wiretaps on Trump. http://edition.cnn.com/2017/03/20/politics/comey-hearing-russia-wiretapping/index.html

What are next steps here? Does an apology (as unlikely as that is) suffice? How do we operate with a president that promotes lies and/or misinformation; with potential global ramifications? What is the legal/legislative recourse when the president not only believes baseless conspiracy theories, but promotes them?

Trump believes any apology is a sign of weakness.

The only recourse is impeachment or invocation of the 25th Amendment. Either are very unlikely any time soon.

In the meantime the opposition needs to oppose.

One place to follow along as this unfolds:

Trump and his lackeys are saying that "wiretapping" wasn't literal and referred to general surveillance.  They are trying to worm their way out of it.

Seeing now that WH is still not backing down on wiretapping claims. Meanwhile, the Russian intelligence hearing has Republicans doing backflips to focus on leaks and not the fact that people in the Trump campaign were in communication with Russian operatives.

Trump tweets falsehoods while the hearing is happening and immediately gets called out.  Though I can't find it on his feed - hmm, weird.  Supposedly they were reading off of his feed and he was commenting that FBI/NSA stated that Russia had no affect on the election.  The truth is they found there was no evidence of tampering on the election machines.  The FBI/NSA does not have the ability to conclude whether or not the Russian interference affected the outcome - it's not up to them.

given that a shift of about 100,000 votes in three states would have changed the outcome, it's hard to believe any one of these events didn't have the potential to do so.  But it's kind of laughable that Comey is there testifying about influence on the election, when most pollsters are convinced that Comey's last minute letter to Congress about Clinton's emails truly did shift enough votes to affect the outcome.

And tweet below.

Another talking point mirroring Russian apologist Paul.

Trump's tweets work. His base, that he needs to keep, will read and believe the POTUS tweets (unlike fake news media). This has the stench of Bannon.

And there's this tweet: "FBI Director Comey refuses to deny he briefed President Obama on calls made by Michael Flynn to Russia."

Failing to mention the long list of things where Comey declined to comment, of course.
