Clothing donation

I have some winter coats I'd like to donate to an org,  that will GIVE these to someone needy.  When I tried to do this in  the past our local churches could only think  in terms of their spring/summer rummage sales.

In short time things like this will be NEEDED by someone.  I really want these few items to  be GIVEN someone that will get current utility from them.

The Vets are coming tomorrow... if possible I'd rather give this stuff more directly.  Sorry for short time frame of this request...I just thought of it 30 mins ago.

Thanks for your help

genwealth ( in town) runs a coat drive every year-you can  ask them when it will be ( via their website perhaps)

It looks like Bridges Outreach in Summit is still accepting clothing donations.  They take items directly to people who need them in Newark, New York, etc.

@oots, @EBennett,

Thanks so much for your time and help.

I'll try to contact them in AM.

Morristown Mission in 9 Market Street, Morristown takes clothing, especially men's, and while some is sold in the thrift shop, others are provided directly to clientele.

There are often food/coat drives run by MEND in cooperation with some of the local churches later in the fall each year.  But I don't know if that will happen this year or not.

 They accept donations here:

Market Street Mission Thrift Store
25 George St.
Morristown, NJ 07960

How Your Donation Helps:

We need and appreciate tax-deductible gently used donations for use at the Mission and for sale at the Thrift Store.

Your donations of gently used clothing, kitchen, household, sports, tools or business items can be an enormous help to the ministries of Market Street Mission in ways that you might not imagine.

Wherever your donation is used, you can be sure that it will be used to help homeless, needy and overwhelmed men, women and families.

@marylago,

I believe that's the place that Meggie used to do annual collection for.  I just forgot their name to get stuff to them.

Does anyone know what happened to that annual collection?  Was just after Thanksgiving, IIRC.

 It was. We had to suspend it this past year. We will see if we can do it this year.
