Christie Endorses Trump for Prez: Bottom Feeders Unite

You used "fat retainer" and "Christie" in the same sentence.  cheese

Meanwhile, it appears that Christie double-crossed, and knifed in the back, his NJ GOP allies.

Irritated, county GOP chairs hopped on a conference call this afternoon with Gov. Chris Christie confidant Bill Palatucci to try to summon what’s left of their collective voice.

Palatucci told the chairs that the governor would like his New Jersey team to be with him in his endorsement of billionaire real estate tycoon Donald Trump, but some of the chairs were hurt and angry.

A week ago, Christie told the county chairs to “keep their powder dry” on prez politics then said they would reconvene when a decision was at hand.

But Christie never reconvened with the chairs prior to Christie’s endorsement of Trump today, according to a source who was close to the conversations on both calls.

He's got a thing for Bridges-this time he's burning them.

Usually, I don't agree with this paper. But this time

So much for Gov. Chris Christie’s return to New Jersey and getting down to the business of running the state.
Fresh off the campaign trail after exiting the presidential race, Christie came home just long enough to fire off a budget plan that didn’t seem especially well thought out; he couldn’t even bother to include a proposal to address the state’s transportation funding shortage.
Now Christie’s back to his travels, popping up in Fort Worth, Texas, Friday to endorse new best pal Donald Trump and declare Trump to be Republicans’ best hope for keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House.
We do know Christie isn’t exactly re-embracing any commitment to his gubernatorial duties. While he took time during his Trump endorsement to say he has “every expectation” of finishing his term — which expires in January 2018 — we know that goes out the window with the first good offer from Washington. And it’s fair to guess that Christie, notorious for living high on the hog at taxpayer expense, doesn’t want to give up the perks of campaign extravagance.
Christie’s support of Trump isn’t a shocker, although it is predictably disingenuous. Earlier in the campaign Christie said Trump didn’t have the temperament to be president, calling Trump a “carnival barker” and declaring “Showtime is over.” Now, however, he says “there is no one better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world than Donald Trump.”
So when was Christie lying?

How long will it be before we see Art swooning over Trump?

He's just angling for the VP slot.

my guess is Attorney General or Homeland Security

Any of the above... long term strategy: parlay whichever appt into presidential bid; followed by bid for sainthood.  Watch out  JC!!! christie may be coming to a polling station near you.

He is running for President, nothing less. He figures that if he is on the ticket as VP whether Trump wins, or even better still if Trump loses, he is the heir-apparent.

Trump should watch his back. So should Christie.

I understand that Christine Todd Whitman has just endorsed Kasich.

Huuge week for the Donald, with David Duke, former kkk head, endorsing yesterday, Christie today. Hard to imagine how to top that.

He is truly a piece of garbage.

Take the first word of your sentence. Add a "T" to the beginning of the word and a "Y" to the end and the sentence makes sense.

Figuring is that Chrispie is angling for Attorney General under Prs. Trump.

Well, any lawyer would be better than the one he has -- the one who was going to sue the hell out of Cruz for not being a natural born citizen.  I think he was laughed out of the NYC Bar Association.

One last "f*ck you, Jersey" from Governor Christie.

He endorses the most misogynistic, xenophobic, and islamophobic candidate in the bunch.  Guess Chris has forgiven Trump for lying about seeing "thousands" of Muslims celebrating in Jersey City on September 11.

Since Chris is a man, and not a woman, he doesn't have to worry about The Donald calling him a "fat pig".

If Trump wins and Christie becomes AG (which is what I'm sure this is about), CC will have years of 'f*ck you, Jersey" to dole out.

Trump, Palin and Christie - what a threesome! Sort of like the Three Stooges, but not funny, just scary!

From the article:

"I will lend my support between now and November in any way for Donald,"

He left out that he will also be lending the support of the New Jersey taxpayers.

I love how he met with nj republican leaders and told them that they should wait a bit as a group before deciding who to endorse and then he made his announcement without telling them.  He respects no one.

Hey, at least he didn't ask how much weight the Christie endorsement carried. (I apologize in advance for the fat joke.)

No apologies necessary.  It was a really huuuuge endorsement.

"The endorsement by Mr. Christie, a not unblemished but still highly
regarded figure within the party’s elite — he is a former chairman of
the Republican Governors Association — landed Friday with crippling
force. It was by far the most important defection to Mr. Trump’s
insurgency: Mr. Christie may give cover to other Republicans tempted to
join Mr. Trump rather than trying to beat him. Not just the Stop Trump
forces seemed in peril, but also the traditional party establishment
itself."

actually the impact of the endorsement is pretty lightweight

One more time for this ...

I guess we can consider this a somewhat support

“This is a real signal to the establishment that they better start thinking in a positive way about how they are going to work with candidate Trump and President Trump,” said former House speaker Newt Gingrich. Gingrich, who has not endorsed anyone, said Friday marked the “beginning of the end” for anti-Trump forces.

The dirt crawling out of their sewers to jump on that bandwagon.

omg - I just listened to Christie at another Trump event telling Rubio to "show up and do his job". He says this after avoiding his job as governor for months. And he said it while avoiding his job. A--H---!!!

Trump picked up another endorsement today: Jean-Marie Le Pen of France's National Front.

"If I was American, I’d vote for Donald Trump … But God protect him."

Guess he considers him a fellow-traveler.

Was he now?

Cruz being natural born is debatable.

Here's an opinion from a constitutional law professor and legal historian which says he's not

What a bunch - Le Pen, David Duke, The Daily Stormer (“Heil Donald Trump – THE ULTIMATE SAVIOR”), Jabba the Hut.

Those who support and volunteer for Trump can take comfort in meeting people who are going to have the same kind of mindset.

The former Klansman and 1992 presidential hopeful said on his radio program on Thursday that not voting for the GOP front runner would be "treason to your heritage."
He encouraged his racist followers to "get off your duff" and volunteer for the Trump campaign.
"They're screaming for volunteers. Go in there, you're going to meet people who are going to have the same kind of mindset that you have," Duke said.

I think you're pretty wrong about this. It might not have much immediate effect on voters, but it will have a huge effect on establishment Republicans who are waiting on whether to support Trump or not.

If Trump pulls off a convincing win on Super Tuesday, be prepared for other big name endorsements. Christie's endorsement could be the first step in support coalescing around Trump.

The whacko governor of Maine also threw in his Trump endorsement.   I'm sure he's looking for a job too.  Trump's staff could be scarier than him.

And then there is former Governor Whitman who said she would vote for Clinton over Trump if it comes to that.  So, not all reason has left the room.
