Christie at Monmouth Track -- must be a fine film clip for his opponents

would love to see a video of this, I could use a good laugh

Here's someone's film clip: http://patch.com/new-jersey/middletown-nj/watch-christie-booed-mercilessly-monmouth-park-after-american-pharoah-win

I really don't think Christie gives a damn when he's booed by what he considers is the hoi polloi. Its pretty obvious, looking at the pictures, that hobnobbing with the one percenters is his thing.

One of the articles above said he wants to do away with horse racing in NJ. I wonder why. Is that perhaps why the crowd was booing?

Yes. That's it. There cannot possibly be any other reasons for New Jerseyans to boo our great and good governor.

It's just like when Christie said he wanted to do away with the NFL in NJ.

Please, I'm certainly not defending the man. There are a hundred reasons to boo him. But is that the reception he always gets at public appearances? (Assuming he's made any since starting his campaign.) And why does he want to do away with horse racing?

I was just teasing. But yes, the Super Bowl video shows that he gets that reception everywhere he goes for the past year. When the guv is less popular than salmonella, he's going to get booed.

Horse racing in NJ has been a money loser. It's one of the few ideas he's had that I can't fault him for.

"When the guv is less popular than salmonella, he's going to get booed." oh oh oh oh oh oh I bet he can't stand Trump getting more attention than he does.

First of all, you don't know what you are talking. They weren't booing him. Rather, they thought he was going to introduce his hero , Springsteen. The fans were yelling, "Bruce" and it sounded like. "Booo."

Beyond that, he hasn't made a large scale public appearance in years. Just town hall appearances in Republican towns

I think he feeds on hate.

Is that a fat joke?

I was at the event yesterday and the booing was real loud. Louder than the opposing team coming out in sport. If so many hate him. How did he get elected? twice?

He just promised to lower taxes

How many in the crowd will be attending the Iowa Caucus or voting in the New Hampshire Primary. Those are the only people who matter to Christie.

But on the other hand, the fact that American Pharaoh ran at the Haskell and won it is a huge win for NJ. As the first Triple Crown winner in almost 40 years, his presence at the Haskell is awesome for NJ.

I wondered why he wasn't immediately retired from racing after the Triple Crown win, but a quick Google search showed that his owner had sold his breeding rights before the season, and so he will keep racing for the rest of the year for purses before being retired.

I lived in Oceanport for 10 years before moving to South Orange in 2008. I have nice memories of Monmouth Park, spending an occasional weekend afternoon there each year. I recall having occasional Derby and Preakness winners running at the Haskell, but they were not there every year. This was by far the biggest event in Monmouth Park history. I can't imagine how Rt 36 handled 60,000 attendees that day though.

John Corzine and Barbara Buono.

And the fact that the NJ Democratic Party and the Star Ledger crawled into a hole and hid during the last election. Not suggesting that Buono could have won, but leaving her to swing in the wind was not one of the NJ Democratic Party's finer moments.

exactly.

In retrospect, it wouldn't be surprising that both the S-L and prominent Democrats were afraid of the revenge that Christie would have taken out on them if they actually stood up to him during the campaign. If there was anything better than a 50/50 chance Christie would win, why take any chances. And even with a strong effort by the party, Buono was going to be an underdog.

+1

And it seems that Tom Moran has been doing his best to make up for the cowardice ever since. The S-L always seems to have a CC negative for its readers daily. Hey, that's what keeps me as a subscriber!
