I saw that earlier. Reprehensible. Deplorable even.

How can you reach someone like this with such obvious hatred and fear ruling her life? Because just discounting her helps nobody, and there are a lot of people in this country who think the way she does.

This is so sad. It would be nice if the mall can also identify the two women she harassed so people can speak up and show them support and love.

not for nothing, but the ranting woman looks to be of an age where she'd be collecting Social Security, and yet she's yelling that "the taxpayers probably paid for" the other women's merchandise.

Ironically, I suspect she's the one not paying taxes, living off "entitlements" such as Soc Sec and Medicare.

Okay drawing unfounded conclusions about this woman is not helpful at all here.

I followed this a bit because I am from Kentucky. The good news is that JC Penny where this took place is trying to identify the women she attacked. They want to apologize that things weren't handled better, and want to reimburse the women for what they bought. The mall is trying to identify the attacker so they can ban her from the mall.

Yes, to some degree. Its a fact that current Soc Sec recipients (maybe Medicare too) will collect a lot more than they paid in. So who is paying for it? Current recipients or current payers?

Also, we paid for unemployment benefits, food stamps, subsidized housing and welfare. Many of these recipients were employed who due to unemployment are now recipients.

My point is this lady is probably a recipient of "entitlements" so I don't think she's in any position to throw stones at other recipients, no matter who paid for them.

Facts do not matter. Rational thought is not involved in these situations.

meh. Almost every one of us at one time or another is receiving something or other at taxpayer expense. So speculating about that person is hardly going way out on a limb.

Her behavior is offensive and terrible no matter what the level or source of her income is.

The sad part is, in "her world" it's okay to treat other people in the manner she acted. That's sad.

It is amazing that anyone is parsing the words of this patheic nut job. She was banned from the mall, and is just plain mentally ill. The women are tryi g to ignore her. When you are being verbally molested, just as when you are being raped, it's sometimes intimidating. What could they do? The limp response from behind the checkout counter was wrong, that's for sure.

To excuse this as illness is wrong because it lets this woman off the hook for her bigotry by making her not responsible for her behavior. She's not delusional in this video, and she's not speaking gibberish. She appears to be a person who doesn't like immigrants and one day she decided to tell one of "them" off. Bigotry does not equal mental illness.

She's totally delusional. She's paranoid. She is a bigot. She should be held accountable, but all bigotry is delusional and paranoid. To think otherwise is to validate it. If you are sane, you know that her fears are irrational. Irrationality is a hallmark of insanity, uh, I think.

To parse her tirade is to validate it. But then, you must know that. If not, I have no more interest in arguing with you. She needs to be removed from causing harm like a rabid dog should be quarantined, or a cruel slavedriver should be put out of business through being rendered impotent.

Just because bigotry is common, doesn't mean it's sane. It's based on stereotypes, generalizations, paranoia, and other irrational behaviors and thoughts. Not excusable, but insane.

Clearly. You need therapy. And an education.

And if you want someone to be held accountable, you can't label them insane. Mental illness is just that, an illness. Mentally ill people are not responsible for their actions. This woman seems sane, and as a result is responsible for the abuse she heaped on the other women.

I am not in any way validating or making excuses for her behavior. She seems sane and rational, and thus she owns her bigotry and should be held responsible for it. In this case, by being banned from that store. If anything, those of you calling her mentally ill are making excuses for her.
