Chainsaw noise right now

"We are near Jefferson school.  For at least the last half hour we can hear what is distinctly the sound of a chainsaw and possibly a backhoe  or other similar heavy equipment.   Anyone know what is going on? We did not receive a text or email from the police department and it seems strange this activity is going on now .  I hope everything is OK I can only imagine a change that will be used at this hour because a tree fell ."

maybe it was someone snoring....

--- at least they ain't using a leaf blower.

Chainsaw noise is annoying at any time of day, but are you saying 11am on a Wednesday is a particularly bad time?

Today Walton Road at Jefferson was closed with a lot of utility trucks on the scene. Don't know if that was also causing all the noise in the wee hours of the morning. The town / police have been really good about sending out texts and emails about road closures but nothing about Walton today.

I posted from my iPad at 2 AM and have no idea why the same message posted twice. I can't figure out how to delete one of them. Sorry!  @jamie - can you delete the other? TIA!

My original post was actually around 2am!  I tried deleting one of the duplicate posts and maybe that's how the timestamp got changed to 11 AM but that chainsaw was humming and woke me up along with the noise from the heavy equipment at an unpleasant time!

2am is a different story. As Emily Litella said, never mind.

Maybe a tree company getting caught up on their work backlog?

That's why I suggested it might be someone snoring.

I guess I watch too many horror films.

A fallen tree that took down the power lines about 10:00 last night. Wiped out power on most of the block.  Restored 11:00 this morning. PSEG replaced a utility pole and two transformers. Fios is still out as I type.

Aha! Mystery solved, thank you cuethesun.  Hope everyone is ok and Fios back soon.  Here's to a hopefully quiet sleep tonight.
