Census time!

I was able to complete the census form without getting my ID number in the mail.  It was easy.  I just entered my name and address.  Message at the end told me to disregard the census letter if/when it finally arrives.

Previous owners tried to illegally convert my house into a 2 family, did a half assed job, never even completed it, for example they had a stove in the second half but hadn’t even run the gas line to it.  Our number is 22.  I received my census addressed to 22 and went online to submit it.

I just received a second one for 22-A.  The illegal apartment is no more.  If I just ignore it I’ll likely end up with a census worker wasting their time coming to our house.  Is there a way online that I can make them aware that there is no 22-A?

I believe there is an option on the online form where you can say that this isn't a valid residential address.  If you can't find it, you can call the census(844-330-2020) and tell the phone enumerator that the address doesn't exist.

In either case, it's possible that as part of the validation operation later this year they'll send someone out anyway to verify what you've said.  I went to a pizza place during my work on the 2010 validation portion of the census. The original enumerator had written down that this wasn't a residential unit and I had to go up and ask the owner if indeed this wasn't a residential unit and then fill out the form confirming it.
