How long had that store been there? Given the price point on the things they sold I always marveled that they could stay in business. I think the most expensive thing I ever bought there was a birthday card.
The store is closed for the month (August) while repairs are made to a collapsed ceiling.
It has been there forever, at least 60 plus years with different tenants but always a stationery store.
Latest I heard is that Charley has made the decision not to reopen the stationery store
The store had been closed previously due to ongoing repairs to the building.
If this proves true may he enjoy retirement.

Wow - that’s such a long time!
I think that a Kate’s Paperie like stationary store, that also offered mundane services like return of Amazon purchases and such that no one has time to handle, could do well in that spot.

How can Kate's move there if it's stationary?
Think outside the box, grasshopper.

Load up an airy station wagon.
Ok.......the more complete story of the store is that the owner considered selling a 40% interest
in his store and then thought better of it. As of now it is closing.

Only place in the Village for public Fax machine use. Also a Notary and they would hold newspapers and magazines as well as being a Fed Ex drop spot.

Main library building on Baker Street has a public fax machine. It requires a debit or credit card. The main library building and the Town Clerk's Office at Town Hall each have a notary. There is Fed Ex dop off box in front of the office building on Dunnell Road near the fire station.

And where would you find all services in one place. I served as Executor to my Uncle's estate The Pennsylvania law firm was incredibly inefficient. The stationary store and its services helped preserve my sanity............well as much as any one entity could do.

As it turned out Starcrap out of an abundance of caution placed their outlet at the far end of the Circus building and an impossible target for a direct barrage. I could bank some tosses off the Kings building however that would risk sending the Kings store out of town. If you recall the myth that King's required a larger store was the red herring that allowed the Circus building to rise. So Ironically the whole story would be self full fulling and I would be working against all that Engage proposed. So the ersatz coffee outlet is safe for now.
And when not driving myself broke using Amazon, I use a website called WISH

I noticed the card store on the corner of Maplewood Ave and Highland is closed and (from appearances) may be out of business. Any one know what the future of that space will be?
