Car Drives Into House In Hilton Section

Just drove by this.

Wondering why the car is still there. Suspect maybe they're concerned about structural issues with the house. Judging from the damage to the front of the car, they must have hit the house at a pretty good clip!

I heard it was a stolen car involved in a robbery or attempted car jacking over by the B of A. There was one that crashed into one of the condos on Boyden ave, also. Quite exciting over here….

I have walked by several times and noticed this.  It has been there for at least a week or two.

I would guess that if it hasn't been moved in that long, it must be evidence in an ongoing crime investigation.  (Opinion based entirely on the number of "Law & Order" episodes I've watched over the years.)  Either that or they're keeping it as a tourist attraction to build foot traffic over there. (Admit it -- If you haven't seen it yet, now you've got an itch to change your usual route to take a look).  Seriously, though, I hope no one was seriously injured.  Anyone know if the house is currently occupied?

I remember when three teenagers crashed into the basement of the house at the corner of Springfield and millburn avenues. They were heading towards down Springfield Avenue at a high rate of speed, and tried to turn right onto millburn Avenue by the gas station. At the time there was a little service station/mechanic shop, where the little park is now. They went right between the light pole and the shop, and crashed through the concrete wall of the basement to the house right there. All three of them died.
Im looking at this car completely perpendicular to the house and wondering if the person was driving up Tuscan towards Springfield avenue and  was planning on making a left onto Hilton, somehow thought that the street was immediately in front of them and turned left. This is just weird.

Or there are insurance adjusters involved

Of the answers that were posited, I believe structural damage is the most likely, ..... need to find a safe way to remove the car.

Nah. Looking at it again, it's probably just out of gas.

is it weird that the license plate was removed? Or maybe the person who posted scribbled it out. I cannot imagine being that homeowner…

I don't see any skid marks on the grass - Are we sure the house didn't run into the car?  What street is this?

Tuscan Street.

ah ok, I see - right by Hilton Street.  What an odd angle it ended up with.

Head on collision.

That's right around the corner from my first Maplewood house. I'm gonna have to go check it out now.

Still there. I drove past this morning. I had forgotten about the thread.

Still there as of yesterday afternoon  but the caution tape has been taken down so the sidewalk is no longer blocked.

It was still there on 5/24.

it’s still there, I don’t think anybody lives in the house.

I guess not.

That is wackadoodle. Red sticker on the house does mean it is/should be unoccupied. Car, Audi, is worth something. Plate is removed, probably stolen. But vin should allow owner to be tracked.

I always loved that house. It’s sad to see it like that. Probably going into foreclosure. Just a very weird situation.

Could be the owner of the car is the homeowner.

The township was going to ticket me for leaving my unregistered 70's muscle car in my own driveway without a plate, not sure how this car is allowed to be left without a plate in the front yard.
