Can't find any flour

Forget the toilet paper - there seems to be a true run on plain [preferably unbleached] all purpose flour.  Forget King Arthur anywhere! not even available on their own website.  But I can't seem to find any such flour in any local stores or on line.

Please list your success if applicable.

TIA!

I went to ShopRite in Livingston 3 times since the nuttiness started before I could find any flour. But that was days ago and even then there were only about 4 bags on the shelf.

Your best bet is probably to call ahead and see when they're expecting more, then get to the store before it opens.

This afternoon ShopRite on Morris Tpke in Springfield had flour. Not a huge selection but some bags in stock, including King Arthur.

I currently live in rural New England, and we have ZERO flour available. Also no yeast. But I got clever and found some frozen loaves of white bread that, while not ideal, will at least provide me with bread if shortages continue. Soups and pasta are also sorely lacking. Stay healthy and safe, everyone!

King Arthur is as good as gold these days.

You can always make your own sourdough starter with some flour and water (if you can find any flour).

What do you think the deal is? People who are stressing are baking to try and relax, parents are making more pancakes from scratch? Neither seems plausible.

I think once people hear something is in short supply they buy it when they see it.

As for flour, try Kings in Millburn.  They seem to be more fully stocked.

People are thinking about shelf stable food that will see them through an extended quarantine/lock down.  We go through lot of flour in our house (pancakes, waffles, cookies, cobblers, etc) but, as with other items that we use regularly I try to keep a one month supply on hand.  In our case, that works out to 4 bags.  When we use up one, we pull the next one from the front and stash the new one in the back.

I guess a lot of folks either don't have the pantry space to accommodate that sort of thing or spent too much time watching reality tv shows that ridiculed the idea of common sense preparedness. But who knows, those folks may get the last laugh.  I mean, everything could still turn out to be ok, couldn't it?

Yeah, I'm not a big baker, but I do need my daily bread, and I've got a bread machine, so I bought flour just in case store supplies became iffy or if the self-quarantine got more strict. I meant to buy powdered milk too but I forgot to look last time I was out.

Whole Foods had flour as of about 2 hours ago.  There wasn't a ton left but they had it.  BTW:  that was the most normal looking grocery store I have seen in a week or 2.  They even had TP.  Last week they had bare shelves everywhere.

Thanks all.

I actually bought 4 bags of Bob's GF 1:1 all purpose flour at Shoprite in WO.  Should hold us til Passover

I don’t know about out there, but here when the Shoprite was cleaned out of flour and milk Aldi still had both in stock

I'm curious.  I'm normal times would you have bought 4 bags?

Bob's Gluten Free comes in little bags, doesn't it?  Four bags is probably still a little less than a regular bag of flour.  Costs a lot more, though.....

2 weeks ago I thought about powdered milk and forgot to look for it. Then when I remembered last week, it was all gone. But I did get a bag of flour, though it is bleached
