Bring Out Your Dead! The celebrity death thread....

"Who is the man who would risk his neck for his brother man?"
(SHAFT)
"Can you dig it?"

Takes me back to when "adventure" movies were just that, and not explosions and shootings and mutilated bodies.  Just call me "old".

Matthew Perry

So young. So tragic.

Matthew Perry of Friends fame. Age 54. Battled addiction and spent half his life in treatment centers or sober living facilities. Found by his assistant in his hot tub.

Being found dead by your assistant is a very sad way to go.

seems quit a few celebrities have been found by their assistants in a tub of water. Why does someone so stoned out of their mind go take a soak in a tub? You fall asleep and you drown.
I wonder if he was related to Luke Perry.

We really shouldn’t speculate, especially give his mental health history.
It must be extraordinarily hard to live your life with deep anxiety and depression issues, yet being recognised everywhere you go, and  with massively high expectations from everything you do…feeling isolated from all around you.

I’m just deeply saddened we’ve lost this amazing man and his shining talent.

I’ve just read this shocking news:

A young ice hockey player has died, after his neck was cut by the skate of another player.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-10-30/ice-hocky-player-adam-johsnon-dies-in-freak-accident/103037910

Truly not a ‘freak’ accident, but workplace incident and appropriate precautions taken and safety gear should worn as in all dangerous occupations.
May his family find comfort despite the media storm to come.

he was seriously involved with drugs and alcohol. It’s the same thing with Whitney Houston and Aaron Carter . Found in a bathtub. He was warning people about it just recently, talking about his addictions. Of course it’s sad. Too many people are using drugs today, way too many.

Yes and I agree it’s too early to know what happened. He could slipped and hit his head. Or passed out for another medical reason.

We missed this one.

Dick Butkus, former NFL legend, died on October 5th at age 80.

I never knew, being only 9 years old, that a future Tar Heels and NBA star was playing a prep year at the local private school in Hockessin, Del. (A little earlier, Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell had met each other as students there.) His name was Walter Davis.

jaytee (or anybody), help please, who are  those four familiar but elusive men in the photo posted on 10/27? This has been making me nuts.  At the risk of humiliation, i'll venture Jesse Jackson and Bobby Seale, but ???

Fred Williamson
Richard Roundtree
Jim Kelly
Jim Brown

Ady Barkan, described by Wikipedia accurately as an America lawyer and liberal activist. He passed away from complications of ALS at 39 years old. Had been included on Time's list of 100 most influential people in the world. If you don't know about him, I suggest you learn. Died on 11/1/23

Fred Williamson is the only one alive today at 83 years old (I think).

And thx wendy for introducing A. Barkan.  What a lot done in his short time!

Rosalynn Carter, why do I get the feeling that Jimmy is not going to last too much longer. Usually with couples who are so close they go quite quickly after one passes. Such a wonderful couple. RIP.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/rosalynn-carter-former-first-lady-dies-rcna62862

Rosalynn Carter, the former first lady and humanitarian who championed mental health care, provided constant political counsel to her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, and modeled graceful longevity for the nation, died Sunday at her home in Plains, Georgia, according to the Carter Center.

Carter was 96. She had entered hospice care in her home on Friday.

In a statement, former President Carter said: “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished. She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Rosalynn Carter was widely regarded for her political shrewdness, drawing particular praise for her keen electoral instincts, down-to-earth appeal, and work on behalf of the White House, including serving as an envoy to Latin America.

I felt so sad when I heard that she passed. I do believe he will not be around for long, but he's beaten everyone's expectations, so who knows. He did say this, albeit in 2015:

"As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me," her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, said.
