Bring Out Your Dead! The celebrity death thread....

RIP Leslie West

I will never forget when he cranked up the volume to 11 and played a few tunes at Hat City Kitchen.

RIP Tony RiceLOL man 2020 sucks!!

This is very sad to hear about Tony Rice, one of the best guitarists ever. I know his health has been a factor the last few years. I have tried to copy some of his work, but gave up years ago.

He will certainly be missed

Very sad about Tony Rice. He was one of my late husband’s faves. To be clear: I only have one late husband, and one of his favorite artists was Tony Rice.

I didn't know Tony Rice.

It's times like this that you start to wonder about how much one doesn't know.

I didn’t either. I’m not into bluegrass music. But I did search him on YouTube, he is brilliant. Picks a guitar like nobody else.

Yeah, I don't seek out bluegrass music myself either, but whenever I hear it I like it.

RIP Dawn Wells

I've read that "Mary Ann' died of complications from Covid. Ginger is now the only surviving cast member from the island.

RIP Mary Ann. Another COVID victim.

Hard to believe Dawn Wells was 82 years old.

Also, sad to read Armando Manzanero, pianist and songwriter, has died, also of covid complications. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/dec/29/armando-manzanero-acclaimed-mexican-music-star-dies-aged-85-of-covid

Tanya Roberts, former model and Bond actress.

What a bizarre story. She was reported dead because her husband had thought she died while in the hospital.  He left the hospital without talking to anyone and reported she was dead.  In the meantime she was still alive, fighting for her life.  She finally did pass away last night.

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-55528352

Her partner Lance O'Brien mistakenly thought she had died on Sunday after visiting her in hospital. After getting a call from doctors to say she was deteriorating quickly, he went to her bedside, her eyes closed and she "faded", TMZ reported.

Devastated, he walked out of the room and then the hospital without speaking to medical staff before informing Roberts' agent that he had "just said goodbye to Tanya".

But while being interviewed for US TV show Inside Edition on Monday, Mr O'Brien got a call from the hospital to say she was alive.

The moment was captured on film, as he picked up his phone and said: "Now you're telling me she's alive? Thank the Lord." However, she died on Monday night.

I’m not sure if the hard-core Dr Who fans have found this lovely obituary reel:

So much hard work has gone into keeping it updated.

Siegfried Fischbacher, from Siegfried & Roy, died.  Also, I did not realize that Roy died last year from COVID-19.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/14/entertainment/siegfried-fischbacher-obit/index.html

Siegfried Fischbacher, an illusionist known for working with exotic cats as one half of Siegfried & Roy, has died from pancreatic cancer, according to his publicist Dave Kirvin.

He was 81.Fischbacher's longtime professional partner and friend, Roy Horn, died in May from complications caused by Covid-19 at the age of 75.

Photojournalist Grace Robertson, whose photos appeared in Life magazine at one stage, has died at the age of 90.

Phil Spector. Genius producer turned murderer.

Phil Spector, murderer.

Fixed it.

It’ll be harder than that to remove the collected Back to Mono songs, Let It Be, Plastic Ono Band, Imagine and All Things Must Pass from my life.

Hardly anything but stars on the left, MVP votes on the right and boldface numbers in between.

Larry King, 87

(I don't think I ever watched a whole King interview.)

I sat in front of Larry King at a Dodgers game about a dozen years ago. That's how good my friend's seats were ;-)

Back when burning CDs was the way to share playlists with friends, I made a compilation of music that always made me smile from ear to ear. Leading off was Happy Time, by Junior Mance.

Junior Mance, Jazz Pianist Who Played With Giants, Dies at 92 (NYT)

My dad attended a Mance performance about 10 years ago and, after buying his latest recording as a gift for me, got him to sign this card. Dad said Mance was all that in person.

And Gregory Sierra lit up a scene whenever he entered one. The All in the Family episode that the obituary mentions was devastating.
