Brexit F.U.B.A.R. A post on Democratic Underground refers to impending shortages of food and medicine.

If there are no settled terms for Brexit, military personnel will be deployed to assist in securing and delivering goods. The government is now amassing and storing basic food supplies and medications.

Why would the conclusion of Brexit lead to the stoppage of imports? Wouldn't stuff still be imported but at a higher cost? If importation of goods stops, what happens when the goods now being stockpiled, run out?

The situation there seems more nuts than squirrel doo-doo.

I've seen similar pieces this past week. I think the idea is that if there's a "no-deal" brexit, (as opposed to hard or soft brexit), then there are no agreements in force allowing the importation of food. So importation stops. And the implication is that there are a whole s-load of other economic relationships that all of a sudden are no longer legal. So GB essentially gets cut off from the EU until they can figure out solutions.

I think it's a little theater (sorry, "theatre") to remind the public of the consequences of a "no deal" Brexit.  It's to counter Boris Johnson, who is pulling a "Trump" with his rhetoric.

I guess the Democratic Party's facebook doesn't do a bad job. The article I read and summarized, was posted 2 days before the N.Y.T. article.

They’ve been making jokes about it on The Last Leg and Mock The Week for the last couple of weeks.

Brexit negotiations are going fine.

I need to get Britbox.  With folks parroting cable opinion networks and all the media exaggeration/hysteria/facetiousness in recent times, any news story I read or hear about has increased my scepticism.  As far as Brexit - Pull the plaster off already.

No need. I've been watching full episodes of Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You on YouTube.

Lord Buckethead would have been a hell of a pick to replace Davis.  May blew it yet again.

I think the problem is more real than we'd like to think.  Food is literally rotting in the fields in first world countries like the US because migrants/immigrants are either unwelcome or too afraid to seek this basic form of employment.

Brexit isn’t the reason for the inability of farmers to find people willing to work on farms.

There was a Democratic Underground thread about two weeks ago.  Fruit and vegetable pickers in U.K. come from eastern block nations. Romania, among the most populous points of origin.

Brexit was anti immigrant. As a response, a significant number of these migrants are staying home this year. One Romanian was quoted, "Let them pick their own f___in' fruit."

Exactly.  All the other discussion is just noise.  I don't know about you, but if London restaurants only served English food, that would be torture.
