Blech on governor's race

I've just been paying a bit more attention to the race for governor and I am quite dismayed at our choice.

Murphy = lightweight, in the pocket of political bosses and unions as per usual NJ Dem, wants to give away the store. Corzine turned out awful but at least early on he seemed to have a vision -- unless I'm missing something, Murphy just seems like an empty suit.

Guadagno = Christie lackey. 'nuff said.

I imagine I'll go third-party...

agreed. Two poor choices

You are pretty much spot on except I would not say Murphy is "in the pocket" of special interests. I think they see him (likely accurately) as a convenient tool, a political novice for whom governor is a vanity job, that they can easily use and roll. His lack of understanding of the varied and complex issues that NJ faces is astounding. NJ is like a very sick patient with multiple conditions where the treatment for one has side effects that will make another one worse. NJ needs a very skilled technocrat to navigate that.

And yes Guadagno is simply beyond the pale.

I agree, with one difference.  If I vote third party and Guadagno wins Trump and Republicans in Congress will claim an off year victory.  I can't let that happen.  I'll vote for Murphy.

Guadagno has about as much chance as Joe Lhota, the Republican candidate for NYC mayor did in 2013 vs. DeBlasio.

Every poll said Hillary was going to win.

That both Gore and Biden were here campaigning for him and lavishing great praise(especially Gore) makes me sick.

I didn't. I took a quick peek around to see if there was a current discussion on the race but I didn't see it -- I probably didn't look hard enough. Mea culpa.

Phil Murphy is trying to paint himself as a political outsider that will fight for the little guy/middle class.

He couldn't be more of a political insider.  He was finance chairman for the DNC and ambassador to Germany under Obama.  He is the Democratic establishment.  I see him as tone deaf and out of touch.

The only thing that keeps me from voting for third candidate is what FilmCarp said.  I can't fathom giving Trump something to brag about.

Trump brags every day about things in which he has had no part.  They don't even need to be real things.  Don't let his actions force you to vote for this guy.

I don't really see a third party worthy of my vote. Green Party? Some reasonable ideas, some totally great sounding but totally unrealistic and some awful. But certainly not a person with the experience for the role.
