BANNED: vulnerable, entitlement, diversity, transgender, fetus, evidence-based, and science-based

And we had people saying it doesn't matter whether corrupt Hillary or lying Trump gets elected. Its all the same, vote third party.

Sad.

Reminds me of the Reagan era when certain words couldn't be used by the CDF and Surgeon General. Meanwhile, AIDS, HIV and venereal diseases exploded as well as teen age pregnancies. Why has the GOP  tethered itself to this ticking time bomb is a question for the ages.

It's the "red state" version of a George Carlin routine.

In a way, it reminds me of the corporate ‘net nanny’ era, when we in community health agencies couldn’t write reports or publicise events about female bodies, or various body parts or their functions, without computer alarms going off all over the place and HR having to ‘warn’ us about the websites we visited/the language we used.

People who come up with stupid rules like this think words can only be used in one way. I can think of at least 6 different contexts for using ‘diversity’ in a scientific/health environment, not including a cultural or racial one. Only one use relates to species.  There are many contexts in which references to developing unborn humans need to be made, that have nothing to do with abortion but may include termination via miscarriage; illness or trauma, public health notices (epidemic, or other danger), new research to cure [baldness].... The unborn child might not even be human, yet ‘fetus’ is the correct term for that stage of development, if you’re referring to certain pest animals...

I’m stopping. I’m not going to ruin my weekend with this stupid, shortsighted idiocy by language-mailers in another country.  question

“It’s absurd and Orwellian, it’s stupid and Orwellian, but they are not saying to not use the words in reports or articles or scientific publications or anything else the C.D.C. does,” the former official said. “They’re saying not to use it in your request for money because it will hurt you. It’s not about censoring what C.D.C. can say to the American public. It’s about a budget strategy to get funded.”

Well, if what they're saying that this is a technique to get past the Trumpsters, it's not Orwellian at all, though it's absurd and stupid that it has to be done. And if it helps the CDC to get what they want, I'm all for it.

Reading the Times's report, it's clear that no one actually knows the source of these bannings. It looks like the story has been very seriously misreported.
