Auto body shop recommendation

Can anyone recommend an auto body shop in So Orange or Maplewood that does good work and will not
rip me off?

I super highly recommend Derrick at the Prospect Exxon in WO -- I know not SO or Mplwd, but this guy is very honest and knowledgeable and that is very rare so whenever I get a chance to I give him a plug..

Several years ago we had a car repaired (fender damage) at The Shop on Indiana Street at Springfield Av., before selling it to a friend of the family.

Had occasion to see the car about six years after the sale; and the paint was still a perfect match.

Don't recall the price; but it was as such, that we didn't report the hit-and-run damage to the insurer.

I'd recommend The Shop without hesitation.

Good repair shops don't stay around long without reason.

Good luck with any decision you make; and Happy Motoring.

Very pleased with Modern Auto Body on Valley Street in South Orange. They took good care of both me and my car after I was rear-ended a few years ago.

Reviving this thread? Any other recomendations?

I came here to recommend Modern Auto Body - and then I see I already did oh oh LOL. But I stand by that!

I just had a lovely experience with Union Collision (based on recommendations here and personal reccs from a neighbor.) And dealing with mechanics in any way is my own private nightmare...

Underbody rain flaps were scratching the ground, (oh, for a couple of years, maybe). But it's getting close to lease-end time, and I needed a safe car to drive.

Mike met me early the day after I reached out to him, took care of it in no time at all, (at least made the car 100% driveable), didn't charge me a cent for that, and gave me a very reasonable estimate to have the rest of the work done.

They're in Union, but practically in Maplewood -- just a little past 78 off Vaux Hall.

Second plug for Union Collision. Very reasonable estimates and extremely quick work. I also had a similar experience where they didn't charge me a dime to make the car driveable while waiting for the parts to come in.

Not in SOMa, but worth considering is Fine Finishes in Orange on Scotland Ave. I really like Union Collision in Union too, but if you are going to Union, consider Orange. And, having some repairs that weren't covered by insurance, Frank from Fine is someone who you can work with to get a repair and not break the bank.

Second recommendation for fine finishes.

Just had a great experience with Town and Country Collision on Springfield Ave in Maplewood
