Maplewood in the Ice Age, presented by Montclair University professor Dr. Gregory Pope
Apr 14, 2024 at 1:00pm
The Strollers is casting children of all ages for its winter children's show, "How the World Got Wisdom," a multi-ethnic, multi-generational celebration of African folktales told through story, song, and dance.
We're seeking adults, teens, and kids (7 or older) for this fun and creative ensemble show. No experience required.
Auditioners should be prepared to tell a fable or folk story of their choice (in animated fashion) or cold read a scene from the show. They may also be asked to sing a simple song and learn a simple dance combo.]
People with knowledge of African dance styles are especially encouraged to audition.
We also seek percussion musicians with knowledge of African musical styles to be part of the on-stage band during performances.
Audition dates (no appointment necessary):
Location: the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, 10 Durand Rd., Maplewood
Performance dates (all in 2020): Friday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 at 7:00p.m.; Saturday/Sunday, Feb. 1, 2, 8, 9 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. (two performances on matinee days)
Rehearsals: 2-4 times per week, starting Thursday, Dec 12
Weekday evenings: generally 7-8:30pm
Saturday afternoons: generally 2-4:00pm
(year-end holiday conflicts will be worked around; not everyone will be called for every rehearsal until mid January)
Rehearsals will be held at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts or other facilities in the Maplewood area.
All roles open and available! For additional details, please visit our web site at www.thestrollers.org
