BIRDERS AND CLEAR CUTTING EQUIPMENT ON SITE IN CHESTERFIELD!
Call your New Jersey state legislators and ask them to call DEP Commissioner Bob Martin (609-292-2885) to delay Williams Transco's cutting of any trees at the GSE Compressor site in Chesterfield. Independent birders have found significant wildlife at the site. Williams Transco is currently at the site preparing to cut trees and they should not be this during wildlife breeding season. Tree cutting machines are on site. Birders are on site. They could just start cutting at any minute.
US Fish & Wildlife are convinced there are nesting birds at or very near the site. They have recommended to Transco that they wait for the end of nesting season to clear trees. If birds are harmed, it will not be good for anyone, including Transco. They will do a Risk Assessment and decide if it's worth it. We need to keep a close eye on them to make sure they don't try to scare off the birds before they roost. Bring binoculars and a chair and hang out on the Bordentown road.
They need photographers and people with video cameras on site to document any actions taken by the Williams Transco.
