If a picture is worth a thousand words, what are some of our artists saying?

Morganna

Illustrator Tim O'Brien

Waiting for the outrage about the picture, since it shows Warren and Biden in front of Bernie, and Tulsi way in the back.  Media bias for sure.

We can quell all outrage by pointing out that it is obviously an older illustration as it shows Sherrod Brown in the background, one of my favorites.

Another Tim O'Brien.

That kind of manufactured outrage is un-quellable.  Any response to it is like throwing water on a grease fire.

you should check out Jon McNaughton's political paintings.  A reasonable person might think it's satire, but it turns out the author is serious.

His paintings are always full of weird symbolism. If I stretch it, it's possible to count only 11 full stars on that flag. The same number of states that seceded from the Union. But like I said, it's a stretch, it's just that I've never seen him put anything in his paintings that wasn't deliberate.

So he deliberately made John Bolton look like Elmer Fudd?

Another interesting thing about that painting is how vague the faces are. One presumes it's because Trump's cabinet is such a revolving door of gammons, it's hard to keep up. So we have Pence, Melania, Sarah Sanders, Ben Carson for diversity, John Bolton, and is that supposed to be Betsy DeVos back there? and a bunch of generic old white dudes.

Yes. And I just realized Kelly Ann Conway is in there.

Another thing is that if you look at the original painting this is riffing on, Washington's boat is in front with a number of other boats filled with soldiers behind it. Here we see the president and his tight-knit band of gammons crossing the swamp alone.

Morganna

Very funny painting. Glad you posted it @ml1. I'm going for another Tim O'Brien.

it's funny and it's not funny.  But it is illustrative of the widespread belief among Trump supporters that he is a truly great man, likely divinely chosen.  Look at this one called "Teach A Man To Fish".  The notion of Trump helping another person is preposterous, but a lot of people believe this stuff.

the other thing about McNaughton is that his Trump actually looks like PJ O'Rourke.

Morganna

Perfect since Trump compared Buttigieg to Alfred E. Neuman.

ml1

Alfred's got bigger hands

Looks a lot like Alec Baldwin doing Trump.
