Apple Watch --- Junk

So, I am well into geriatricity. (I just coinded (that one, too) that word, and you can use it.) And I have basic heart problems. The Apple watch gives you notice of low or high heart beat, irregular heart beat and ekg. I discussed this with my cardio and, "Can't hurt."  So off I go to Best Buys on Tuesday.

The watch also has emergency calling if it thinks you experienced a fall. It determines this by detecting a sharp movement in one's wrist.

I go hiking with a club, three to five days per week. I have hiking poles, reflective clothing for hunter protection and so forth. Yesterday, I'm out on a hike. Hiking poles get poked into the ground so as to offer climbing and balance assistance. Ten minutes into the hike, I poke the pole on to a rock that is hidden by leaves. Off, goes the S.O.S. to call 911.  Frantically, I am pulling out the phone. No obvious stop for the attempt to call 911. I finally shut down the phone, turn it on again and continue the hike with the group.

About 1/2 hour later, I actually do fall into a ditch. Watch does nothing.

Back to Best Buys to return the damn thing.

Thanks for the warning!!!!   Hate to waste money on something that will be that frustrating.

My 12 year old was given one a while back and he concurs that it is absolutely worthless.

What? It’s an incredibly good product. I’m sure you need to learn to use it better. I’ve never had mine send out an SOS in years of use (and banging around). We’re you disabled in the ditch and unable to call for help? It doesn’t just call for help at every bang and fall.

The battery life is very short when compared to comparable products.

It did - that was the point

First of all, read the original post.

2nd., I have an emergency signal beacon that I carry with me when I am hiking or on a road trip. If I were to be stuck in the ditch and unable to extract myself, I would have deployed that device. It works anywhere on the globe as long as it has access to open sky.

One must never criticize an Apple product.

What comparable products?  I recharge mine every day, but it recharges super quickly ... like about as long as it takes to have my morning shower and get dressed.
