Any thoughts for a light cover?

I’m not sure what was here - I’m guessing it was ugly.  Any ideas on easy solution to screw on to the existing setup?

Do you think it was one of those glass sort of inverted bowl/saucer shaped globes? Seems like it might not be simple to wed a modern piece to it. Also, if what’s there is as vintage as it looks, would you think about replacing the entire fixture with something safer and more efficient?

There are glass and acrylic shades that might work but it might be more cost effective to buy a new simple fixture.

Or you can get decorative bulbs and just go with a rustic industrial look.

There are more old school styled Edison bulbs and there are more modern globe bulbs.

I’d prob paint the base bronze and get some funky bulbs. At least it will look intentional.

We have a vintage glass cover that might work.  It's a flat square that came off of a similar lighting fixture.  Don't know if you're interested in vintage, but if so, I can measure it and snap a photo for you.

I have a round one also I saved years ago. I will gladly give it to Jamie if he wants it. I don’t think I have that nut that holds it up though. But I guess you can buy those nuts at Home Depot.

 hmm, interesting idea.

I’m thinking it was something similar to this one.

Thanks, I'd love to take a look.

Here are two photos.  It's just a flat sheet of decorated glass 16" by 16".  The gold cap should fit your fixture, and you can have that even if you don't want the glass.

Cool - I think we'd like to try it - I'll pm you.

Thanks richardR- it works well - hard to capture it properly on the pic.  This is our third floor room.

It’s not as entertaining as my beloved Park Like a Tool thread, but I am definitely a sucker for a happy ending. (And for a tale of some excellent recycling/reusing.) Go, MOL.

Fun! That glass looks like the vintage of my house. Mid to late 50s.
