Annual Rosh haShana and YK greetings thread

Counting down the hours now... Certainly, it's less than 24 hours to go on this side of the dateline.

May you all have a sweet and fruitful year, peace and joy, good health, prosperity, good friends and pleasant surprises... For those who Fast, may it go smoothly!

The holidays are bittersweet for me. We've found a Jewish community in Ulster County, NY that we love. It is engaging and heart melting. But every year on the holidays, my wife gets a paid gig singing in a synagogue in Manhattan, so we are apart for most of the holidays. I get to reflect on profound stuff, but I am without her, not sharing directly. I do like the company of the people, and the man who leads our services is beautiful and brilliant.

Shana Tova, everyone.

I love the symbols in services and in the homes at this time of year, but I find that (especially this year) I miss absent family and friends more keenly.

I'm grateful we have wonderful tech to help us connect with distant relatives so quickly and easily. Pity we can't do much about the time differences! I nearly rang cousins in Jerusalem just now but it's after midnight!! oh oh

Any chance she could get a similar gig at your shul?  I am sure you thought of that but just throwing it out there

The budgets of the two congregations are like night and day. And that is just one obstacle.

Wishing those who do, an easy Fast - may all be inscribed in the Book of Life, and have a peaceful Shabbat, a sweet year.

(Kol Nidre in a few hours, for us)
