Advice needed - no masks worn in local restaurant

yeah, I don't see the point of gloves either.

I've decided there's nothing I can do when I see neighbors, shoppers, shopkeepers, etc. without masks or gloves (although I'm not sure I see the value of gloves). Most of the stores I saw on my walk yesterday had signs saying masks must be worn to enter but very little enforcement. I guess I'll stop patronizing stores that don't enforce.

I've also been to ShopRite and BJs during Geezer Hour and they're not enforcing anything -  masks or geezers-only. Although it all seems to change each time I go.

My wife said something to a young woman who was the only one she saw at Shoprite not wearing a mask. Then she saw the store actually throw a couple of people out who weren't wearing masks and arguing with the staff about it.

I'm not sure I'd confront another customer but I might say something to a store manager.

I wear gloves when I go into a store because it helps remind me not to fiddle with my glasses or mask. (Also because I happen to have a box of gloves leftover from a DIY project.) I take them off (properly) when I get to the car, toss them in the trash then use a disinfectant wipe. Just building new habits.

I reminded a young girl who was bagging to pull her mask up.  But then, i also occasionally holler at kids who are carrying their bike helmets on their handlebars.  i'm an old lady.

The other customers i have left alone so far, even the guy who was in the store yesterday with three kids ages about 4 to 12+, none wearing masks or trying to keep distance.  Who knows what his home situation is.... i just tried to stay away.

edit to add: this is not in NJ

People are cross contaminating with gloves. The virus can not get into your body through your hand. If you put on hand sanitizer you don’t need gloves. Masks are very important. You can hang your mask on your rear view mirror so it gets the sunlight.
most doctors think we will all get this virus, some in mild form, some more severe. What I think people should do is look into their diets. More alkaline foods, less of the acidic foods. It all boils down to a healthy immune system.

I was at a restaurant today... unnamed. Anyways, there was a guy sitting, without a mask. He was eating. He works there and is not an owner.

Where, or how else, is he 'sposed to eat?

"Eat-in" isn't allowed right now.  He is supposed to get takeout and take it home or some outdoor place away from other people to eat.  And then can be without a mask.

The poor guy is supposed to go home halfway through his shift to eat and then come back?  An employee eating during their break is not the same as a customer eating in.  Trust me, at the supermarkets employees are also eating on their breaks and not going home to eat

To be more specific, he is the delivery guy.... so he's 'sposed to deliver a sandwich and coke, come back to the restaurant, get a soup and go to his car to eat it, then come back to deliver a hamburger, come back to get his own hamburger to take to the car, come back to deliver a salad, then pick up a coffee to drink in his car.....

--- and do you think the cook and order taker are also going home or in their car to eat?

Pretty sure, different place.

the only real value to gloves is to protect your skin.  When you use gloves to shop, you can apply hand sanitizer to the gloves instead of your skin, then properly remove them and dispose of them in an outside garbage.

You have to remember some people are excused from wearing a mask.  While it seems odd, people with breathing issues are exempt.  The masks don't allow for full O2 exchange.  People have passed out --driving...while wearing a mask.  People may have sensory processing disorder and can't tolerate it, it may actually be painful.  There could be other reasons. I have increased pain sensitivity.  I can usually tolerate the mask for a quick supermarket trip, but it starts to get very painful.  One day I had to lift the bottom of the mask and breathe in cool air as i was over heating and feeling short of breath.

I have seen (insert expletive here) people take the mask off once they get in the store.  One lady remarking  she took it down so she could talk on the phone.

No connection between eating alkaline foods and fighting the virus.  Your body's pH level can not be changed through diet. Your body tightly regulates its own pH level.

I meant that to boost your immune system. I didn’t mean it as a cure for covid. Sorry if you saw it differently. With a strong immune system your body will fight off almost all inflammatory diseases. Everything starts in the gut.

boosting your immune system is not really a thing.

Boosting your immune system is not good.  The majority of complications from diseases come from overactive immune responses.

yeah, they are saying a lot of the problem is with a cytokin storm...the immune system going haywire and causing the problem

well, my point was that you can't really "boost" your immune system on demand by ingesting x, y or z. It's not a real thing. It's a marketing/woo thing so that you'll buy x,y and z. The best you can do is live a healthy life - good food and exercise.

On the seldom occasions we get takeout (once every 2 weeks?, we heat it up first in the oven or reheat in a skillet. If its hot soup, we don't bother.
