Achievements of the Day: Post something you did today that made you proud!

I changed the headlight on the car and didn't pay a mechanic to do it!

Did that a few years ago when I was a poor grad student. Then at inspection got pinged for my headlight not being adjusted correctly. Apparently l had been blinding oncoming drivers for a few months...

Nothing. I wasn't patient with my kids, they watched too much tv, and dinner will probably be frozen, canned, or ordered from a fast food restaurant. I'm sick. LOL

But I like this thread.

It's small...I purged two of my "holding station" baskets: stuff to to garbage, stuff to shred, and recyclable. Yes, there is a small quantity of stuff left to keep.

I was inspired to do this because our floors were recently refinished, and there is stuff, stuff n more stuff, not mine, clogging a lot of the housprevent locking my wat to getting on with other purge urges.

FINALLY crossed something off my to-do list that has been on there for far, far too long.

I like this thread - how did you figure out how to change a headlight - I'd like to do that. I have NO IDEA what to do .

Scheduled a big pickup for charitable donations for a few weeks from now, and printed out all of the information about what they do and don't take, so that I can continue purging attic, basement and in between and make the pick-up as large as possible.

The little manual in the glovebox walks you through it step by step. (I almost changed the highbeam bulb by accident at first!)

I also threw away some expired medicine from the bathroom cabinet. Woo Hoo!

I did an hour of yoga, and that's after getting up at 5am and getting home after 6pm.

About 15 years ago, I changed the headlight on my car... busted up my hand real good.

In the past couple of months, my husband and I fixed our washing machine and changed the air filter on my car--by watching how to do it on YouTube!

It wasn't just today, but I lost 14 pounds over the past seven months. 25 more to go. You will be seeing less of me as the months go by.

Went hunting with son, shot a squirrel, showed him how to field dress it and prep for cook another weekend.

Well, it was yesterday... Spilling into today.

Went to a Super Bowl party yesterday, I agreed to bring all the desserts. Baked my @$$ off, made homemade cannolis, mocha chocolate cake, mini cheesecakes, shortbread cookies and fruit platter.
ALL without using any boxed mixes.

People raved about the desserts. My friend who hosted the party took some left overs to work & her collegues all raved. Hubby took some to his boss, he raved... Hubby gave some to an acquaintance ( who has tasted some of my other baked goods in the past) & who happens to be opening a high end restaurant and HE now wants to speak to ME about being the pastry chef!

Considering I have been out of work a year and was considering a career change, this could not come at a better time!! oh oh

Wish me luck!!

Wow...best of luck! Aren't you lucky the partygoers didn't eat them all too....

Great! Go for it. !!!

I went to kickboxing class after two weeks away from it.

Sly,

That's awesome! That's wonderful!

While making dinner tonight I made two more (different) dinners for the freezer! And I went to a spinning class at lunchtime. Sometimes I really have to drag myself there from my office, and it's in the same building.

My children are all still alive.

Also I went back to Costco with my receipt from last week and this weeks coupon book and emerged with $8.75. Housewife Accomplishment of the Day.

amie, you deserve a medal!!!

I reached way back (30-ish years) in my memory about the trouble I had fixing a customer problem... It was finally traced to a small, underground wiring... It caused massive problems on a national scale and took weeks to isolate because it was extremely intermittent...

Fast forward to today and about a week ago I started to suspect something similar was happening only this time it was on a global scale... Same thing though, very intermittent... I proposed that we start looking for this type of problem and although all of the young studs in my business were claiming that I had no idea what I was talking about I persisted...

And today we found the exact problem that I had suspected...

Once again proving that if you start out of the ground floor of an industry using the 'old' technology then you have a greater concept of how the 'new and improved' stuff works then the young college dudes... They have no idea how we got here...

And they learned a valuable lesson about book learning versus real life experience... And why I get the bigger bucks, too...

After watching sports all weekend (kid's and with family for the superbowl) i had a me day today: worked out, got a much needed and delayed mani pedi, Cooked a very healthy meal: brown rice, stewed hijiki, sautéed spinach and baked tofu, continued organizing and cleaning, did lots of laundry, and tried karate again.

Me, too. And it had been there so long it was sticking its tongue out at me.

I visited six assisted living homes in Mesa looking for a new home for mom - not happy with present home. Found one I really like but mom's a tough sell.

Ran this morning (a VERY new attempt at lifestyle change). Tonight, cooked dinner, made muffins for the week's breakfast, washed dishes and cleaned the bathtub. Little things that help this working mama retain a bit of sanity...even though I really just wanted to sit! grin

Did a moderately big job on a client's computer and managed to do it start to finish on the same day. Client came and was extremely satisfied.

kmk, thank you for this thread. Excellent idea.

Finally updated my resume, after procrastinating over half a year. Key to getting it done? Forcing myself to schedule a call with a recruiter tomorrow (yes...a mere 9 hours from when said resume was finished).

Did over half my taxes, big relief to know that the end of the world is not coming on April 15.

I have nothing good to report. I'm very depressed, just trying to cope with the loss of my mom and the loss of my family (since they have rejected me due to huge differences we had during my mom's illness and death.) it is all I can do to get through each day.
I will write one thank you note. I really have to start them.
This is an excellent idea, this thread. thank you for starting it, kmk.
