I am SoOrLady - no other screen name, but needed some anonymity at the time I opened an account.... most people know who I am IRL though.

I did forget VIG! But VIG was created at the time we had two names, a user name and something else...I forget specifics, but both were visible. I only did it because Pippi called me "Virtual It Girl" and hey, that was pretty cool. I never pretended not to be me.

I had forgotten about that old system. We could change our "display name" with the same user name. I think one year I changed to "Noelhero" for Christmas, and "Noahero" during an especially rainy stretch.

I remember that. You could change your user name at will. I often used the name Senor Moment.

i'm not versed enough in MOL names to know when i'm being had by someone posting from 4 user names. if that's happening on a thread i see no prpblem with saying, fyi folks! X=Y=Z....that'd be helpful!

i also ignore most of the posts in a thread. it's sometimes weird to have a nice conversation amidst random crazy-people comments, but it's not like that's unique to MOL - that's life!

Mlandres: The problem is, unless you're Dave or Jamie, you can only GUESS about multiple screen names on a thread. I've got some pretty good ideas of what screen names are multiples and who is who and which ones they trace back to, but I certainly don't know for sure. And there are some names that I think are aliases but I'm not sure.

That's part of the problem. If multiple screen names were just tagged as such, I'd have no problem just ignoring them. But it really bothers me to take a poster seriously and engage them in a dialog only to find out that user name is likely one of three others a person is using on that thread.

Further, there are certain posters I've given up engaging with. It drives me nuts to find out that I've ended up inadvertently engaging with them through one of their other names.

i see what you're saying. i vote for ignoring them! half the time, i don't respond to people...you know, the old adage "if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all" well, i regularly feel like writing F you Ahole, so when it gets to that point i bow out for a bit. i assume i am stealing their joy by not fighting. hopefully.

Pippi is always Pippi to me, no matter how many screen names, or real names, she has.

I have several real names, but only one screen name :wink:

I use to change my name to Hank Zona, but Dave yelled at me ...

I've always been Soda, but I also used to be Pizzaface. I used to post for The Oracle of MOL, too, but then he fired me, so now he posts for himself.

I loved it when we could do that. I was "I Am Switzerland" during one particularly nasty exchange among people. Can't remember now what it was all about...
